Arizona Nursing Homes
Pressure Ulcers

Pressure ulcers are a common yet serious problem that affects approximately 1 million Americans, primarily those over 65 years old. Although the occurrence of pressure ulcers varies greatly depending on health care setting, their incidence in up to one-third of older adults in nursing homes is a major cause for concern. The prevalence of pressure ulcers can be used as a quality-of-care marker in long-term care settings.1

HSAG works with participating nursing homes to implement evidence-based care processes for the prevention and management of pressure ulcers. This is accomplished by providing tools, resources, and technical assistance, as well as conducting regular learning sessions and on-site visits with these facilities.
