California Telecommunications and Support Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for supporting and maintaining the existing Cisco IP Telecommunications environment and LAN/WAN infrastructure, including identifying and resolving Telephony and Network, hardware and software malfunctions. Support the organization via the Help Desk by assisting the user community. Help Desk Support is achieved via electronic ticketing and inbound/outbound trouble calls via the Help Desk Call Center. Proficient in Cisco Call Manager, Unity Connections, and Call Center Express as well as Windows Desktop software, Microsoft Office, network printers, and network desktop connectivity. Conduct throughput analysis and network problem solving. Participate in various Telephony and Networking projects intended to improve/upgrade the overall infrastructure. Schedule is Friday through Monday, four (4) x ten (10) hour days.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cisco IP Telephony Call Manager, UCCX, and Unity Connections Administration
  • Active directory user account creation and permissions
  • FTP accounts user creation and permissions
  • Exchange 2010 user account creation and permissions
  • Mail flow trouble shooting and message tracking
  • Performance monitoring
  • Mail -filter system monitoring and message recovery
  • Outlook clients, i.e., OWA, Outlook 2007/2010
  • Network backup, restores, and tape rotation
  • Data cabling troubleshooting, terminations, and punch down
  • Print Server monitor, printer additions, and troubleshooting
  • PC network diagnostics
  • Intermediate Windows XP and Windows 7 troubleshooting
  • Windows server performance monitoring and trouble shooting
  • Virtual Server optimization using HyperV
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Tier II Help Desk escalation team member
  • Ability to take direction from senior team members
  • Quick learner, creative, analytical thinking, resourceful, and able to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree and/or five years of experience and/or Cisco Certifications.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Computer literacy skills using Word, Excel, Microsoft Projects, PowerPoint, Internet, and Access. Typing speed of at least 65 words per minute and the ability to navigate various CMS-approved databases.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, and volume, as well as the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
