Senior Health Care Analyst

Service Line: Surveys, Research & Analysis

Status: Exempt

OVERALL SHORT DESCRIPTION

Supervise and direct work activities of analytical project staff for national survey initiatives. Provide technical and analytical expertise and leadership. Responsible for the scientific soundness of study design, analysis, and interpretation of a variety of health care data sets. Duties include: production of descriptive and statistical analyses of health care studies; technical interpretive writing; production of reports for presentation and dissemination; participation in the design of study protocols, statistical analysis plans, research methodologies, and literature reviews.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Provide scientific leadership for study design, analysis, and interpretation.
  2. Direct the preparation of scientific reports, papers, and documents.
  3. Review and approve the work of health care analysts.
  4. Work with the project directors and other staff as appropriate.
  5. Conduct and facilitate meetings and presentations.
  6. Contribute to written reports and peer-reviewed scientific publications as appropriate.
  7. Keep abreast of changes in database structures and current analytic methodologies, and communicate this information to health care analysts and project staff.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Accountable for the timeliness, completeness, accuracy, and quality of all assigned functions and tasks.


PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS/COMPETENCIES

  1. Ability to use and sit at a computer terminal for extended periods of time.
  2. Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  3. Ability to communicate face-to-face, through telecommunications, and in written correspondence with individuals using the English language.
  4. Ability to make presentations to large audiences.
  5. Ability to travel in- and out-of-state to seminars, meetings, and conferences.
  6. Ability to adhere to established company confidentiality policies.


QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Master's degree in health economics, epidemiology, public health, statistics, or related social science.
  2. Five to ten years work experience in designing study protocols, databases, and analytical plans; and analyzing complex data sets and reporting results.
  3. Advanced knowledge in statistics, research design, methodology, and data analysis.
  4. Advanced knowledge in computer programming such as SAS, word processing, and spreadsheets.
  5. Knowledge of survey design and analysis.
  6. Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
