Culture Matters Goals
The goals of the Culture Matters
initiative are to:
- Improve the quality of
healthcare provided to underserved
Medicare beneficiaries in Arizona;

- Increase primary care
provider’s knowledge of the
Culturally Linguistically
Appropriate Services (CLAS)
standards and;
- Promote the adoption and
implementation of the
CLAS
standards.
HSAG provides practices participating in
Culture Matters support with:
- Assessing the level of
implementation of CLAS Standards in
the practice
- Completing a self-paced on-line
training program entitled “A Family
Physician’s Practical Guide to
Culturally Competent Care”,
developed by the Office of Minority
Health (OMH) and receiving up to 9.0
Category 1 CME from the American
Medical Association
- Identifying resources and
providing recommendations to support
the implementation of the CLAS
