Control the ABC's of Diabetes

Diabetes is a major public health problem for Medicare beneficiaries.

2005-2006 Arizona Medicare fee-for-service data show that American Indian, African American and Hispanic/Latino beneficiaries are 32% less likely to get the annual hemoglobin A1c, lipid profile, and eye exam then the white non-Hispanic population.

As your partner in health care quality, Health Services Advisory Group (the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) for Arizona) supports health care providers, physician offices, parish nurses, community health workers, community groups, the public health system, educational and research institutions, and the Arizona Diabetes Coalition with evidence-based clinical practice guidelines to improve diabetes-related outcomes.

With your help we can reach our goal to reduce these diabetes healthcare disparities by 4% in 2007. We encourage all partners to use the following guidelines, tools and educational materials to transform healthcare in Arizona.
