The mission of the Adult Immunization Project is to increase influenza and pneumococcal vaccination rates through a comprehensive, sustained community program for the immunization of Arizonans against vaccine-preventable diseases. The project objectives aim to decrease the morbidity and mortality associated with influenza and pneumococcal disease through the following activities:
Increasing statewide influenza
and pneumococcal vaccination rates.
Eliminating missed opportunities
for vaccination in those at high risk by increasing screening
for influenza and pneumococcal vaccination in patients hospitalized
with pneumonia.
Despite the fact that influenza
and pneumococcal vaccines are clinically effective, cost effective,
and are covered by many insurances, including Medicare Part
B covered benefits, they remain underutilized. Our goal
at Health Services Advisory Group (HSAG) is to work with physician
offices and clinics to collaborate on quality improvement (QI)
efforts to increase influenza and pneumococcal vaccination rates.
