Special Studies Overview

PBS Remaking American Medicine Hispanic/Latino Focus
HSAG has been awarded special funding from the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to assist in promoting a four-part public television series entitled Remaking American Medicine (RAM), which is scheduled to air on PBS stations in 2005-2006. Led by Lumetra, the Quality Improvement Organization for the state of California, the project is aimed at building local coalitions to support the broadcast as well as showcasing innovative work QIOs are doing in reaching out to underserved populations in their communities. HSAG will highlight diabetic care quality improvement efforts in Arizona's hispanic population. Learn more.

Identification and Synthesis of Components Essential to Achieving 'High Performer' Status in Various Provider Types
The purpose of the “High Performer” study is to identify and study high performing providers and share study findings with QIOs and providers-at-large in an attempt to change behavior and enhance organizational performance. Learn more.

Measure Management Special Study
The objective of the Measure Management study is to assist CMS in developing and implementing a management system that will produce and maintain quality measures across all settings.

Best Practice Methods
On the "Best Practice Methods" study, HSAG works with Qualis Health to assist CMS and the QIO community in answering questions regarding best practice interventions used by external change agents to influence health care providers.

Coordination of the National Implementation of the Hospital CAHPS (HCAHPS) Survey
HSAG is collaborating with the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), RAND, Westat, and expert consultants from the Harvard Medical School to design and implement a strategy for the national implementation of the HCAHPS.
