Achieving Safety Across the Board (SAB) is the ability to use a broad and systematic approach toward building a patient centered organizational response to reduce and prevent ALL patient harm—the cornerstone of every hospital and health system. The framework for SAB involves 3 key imperatives: culture, strong safety processes, and engagement. Simultaneous execution of these three imperatives assists with keeping patients, family/caregivers, and the workforce free from harm. The SAB series will highlight efforts to improve the 3 key imperatives, while demonstrating the close association on driving improvement in Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN) clinical topic areas.
Individual Session Description:
To effectively drive change, key roles in the organization must be on board and involved from the beginning. Improvement across HIIN topic areas require input and experience of team members from all disciplines. A few of the basic principles for building and engaging team members to drive improvement further and faster will be featured in this session.
- Describe methods for engaging key team members in quality improvement.
- Identify team member roles that are critical to success in improvement/safety projects.
- Discuss strategies for engaging team members to specifically drive improvement across HIIN topic areas.
