The HSAG HIIN High-Reliability Workgroup assists hospitals in learning and implementing principles of high-reliability and the development of a safety culture.
Translating evidence-based best practices into everyday workflow is not a simple task in healthcare. Complex work is performed for patients with complex medical conditions, by complex human beings in our hospitals. As a result, we often fall short in healthcare. The ability to see and understand the risks in the work that we do is the first step toward clinical outcomes improvement. This session will feature an overview of key strategies that can lead to improved reliability and improvement in the HIIN clinical topic areas.
- Describe methods for improving the reliability of clinical practices.
- Discuss the effect of a safety culture on clinical outcomes.
- Identify key practices that can lead to improved reliability.
- Describe the human factor approach to the development of reliable practices.
