Topic: PFE Metric 4: How to Partner with Patient and Family Advisors to Improve Quality and Safety Outcomes
This week’s Patient and Family Engagement monthly learning event, entitled “PFE Metric 4: How to Partner with Your PFAC to Improve Quality and Safety Outcomes,” was designed to help HIINs learn how to effectively partner with patients and families to improve quality and safety outcomes by sharing concrete examples of Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) projects that have improved patient safety, identifying improvements in outcomes – as well as other unintended benefits – due to PFAC involvement. Additionally, the event discussed the intersection of PFAC activities and their impact on broader hospital goals, as well as provided insight into the processes used to select quality improvement projects for PFACs.
Lee Thompson, the Patient and Family Engagement Contractor Director, chaired the event. She was joined by Dr. Poonam Sharma, Patient Safety Coordinator, Atrium Health and other members of the Atrium team.
