Health Services Advisory Group (HSAG) is pleased to announce the continuation of the Behavioral Health Educational Webinar Series. These sessions will continue to help clarify the often confusing and sometimes foreign world of behavioral health.

Topic:

Decision-making authority impacts admission, discharge, and post-discharge processes: Understand legally defined relationships such as guardianship, powers of attorney, and other advance directives to help improve patient outcomes with less stress and delay.

Objectives:

  • Differentiate between various types of Powers of Attorney and Guardianship.
  • Increase understanding of the authority of these legally-defined relationships.
  • Increase understanding of the limitations of these legally-defined relationships.
  • Recall where to find additional resources or assistance regarding legally-defined relationships.

Speaker: Stephanie A. Bivens, Esquire, Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA)

Ms. Bivens is a Phoenix native who received her law degree, cum laude, from Arizona State University in 1996. For 20 years she has focused her practice on estate planning, probate and trust administration, elder law, and special needs planning. Ms. Bivens devotes her time, knowledge, and passion to working with individuals, families, licensed fiduciaries, banks, and trust companies. She holds the honored distinction as a CELA by the National Elder Law Foundation, accredited by the State Bar of Arizona. There are fewer than 500 CELAs nationwide. Ms. Bivens is a nationally recognized attorney in her field, frequent speaker, and writer. She is currently a contributing editor for Attorney at Law Magazine—Phoenix. In addition, Ms. Bivens regularly speaks at community education events, and serves as faculty for continuing legal education events for attorneys and fiduciaries. Ms. Bivens is a member of numerous professional organizations. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, now in college, and three chocolate Labradors. Ms. Bivens is also on the Board of Kappa Alpha Theta—Phoenix Alumnae chapter.
