Mindfulness-based Eating Strategies Show Benefits

A recent study in the Journal of Endocrinology & Metabolism with intervention and control groups shows those taught eating principles based on mindfulness lost significantly more weight than those who were not (3.1 kg vs. 0.21 kg). A previous study in Obesity in 2016 found mindful eating and meditation was correlated with improvements in fasting blood sugar and triglycerides. This suggests incorporating mindfulness principles into lifestyle programs and primary care visits may help people handle stress, eat more sensibly, and improve some metabolic markers.
