According to a joint study of the American Diabetes Association and The Lewin Group published online in Diabetes Care, the total estimated cost of diagnosed diabetes in 2017 was $327 billion. Medical care for people with diabetes reflects 1 in 4 health dollars in the U.S. The average medical costs by people with diagnosed diabetes was approximately $16,750 per year.
