Two Weeks Inactivity Speeds Onset of Type 2 Diabetes in Overweight Older Adults

According to a study published in The Journals of Gerontology, older adults who were overweight and began a period of inactivity were more likely to suffer harmful consequences to their health. Researchers learned that if people will be inactive for a period of time, they must work actively to recover their ability to manage blood sugar. Specifically, study lead author Chris McGlory recommends, “active rehabilitation, dietary changes and perhaps medication might be useful.” Read more at the EurekaAlert article.
