USC Study Links Pollution and Type 2 Diabetes

Latino children who live in polluted areas are at increased risk of contracting diabetes, according to University of Southern California researchers. More than 300 overweight children were studied for 3.4 years, and while none of them contracted diabetes at the end of the study, once they turned age 18 they experienced higher blood insulin levels and many became pre-diabetic.
