Behavioral Health a Barrier to High-Quality Nursing Care

Medical Team Looking at Xray Provider

University of Rochester researchers found that patients with a behavioral health issue were more likely to be placed at one-start skilled nursing facilities. The researchers were not sure of why the gap exists except to note that patients with behavioral health issues tend to be economically poor, with less stable family lives. That is, if you are poor, you are more likely to live near one-star facilities. The study results were published in the American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry.
