CMS Report Highlights Disparities in Care for the Elderly

On April 10, 2018, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a report on the racial, ethnic, and gender differences among Medicare Advantage beneficiaries, citing 2015-2016 data. The report found gaps in care between black and white beneficiaries, which were larger in men than women regarding getting prescription drugs, rates of colorectal cancer screening, quality of diabetes care, and rheumatoid arthritis management.
