Interactive voice response (IVR) and patient portal messages together may help increase flu vaccine rates, according to a study published by the Journal of General Internal Medicine. The clinical trial involved more than 20,000 patients prior to the 2014–2015 flu season who had not yet been vaccinated to receive either an IVR call or a portal message promoting influenza vaccination, both, or usual care. An additional study arm involved 10,000 non-portal patients to receive an IVR call or usual care. Subjects who received portal messages and IVR calls were more likely than the usual care group to be vaccinated. Read more at the MPR website article.
