Part D and Low-Income Beneficiaries Not Taking Blood Pressure Meds as Prescribed

Provider Medical Team Looking at Xray

Almost five million Medicare prescription drug enrollees aren’t taking their blood pressure (BP) medication as directed, according to a new study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Researchers examined 18.5 Medicare Part D enrollees in 2014, discovering that 26 percent either missed their BP medication or stopped taking them altogether. The highest non-adherence rates were identified in the Southern US.
