Personalized Invite Increases Smoking Cessation Attendance

Researchers from the National Health Service in the United Kingdom found that sending a personalized risk letter and invitation tended to increase attendance to its Stop Smoking Services program—a national counseling program.  They revealed quit rates of 35 percent at week 4. This study was held across 18 Stop Smoking Service courses in England among approximately 4400 participants. Attendance at these Stop Smoking Services courses was higher among participants who received the customized risk letter (17.4 percent) versus those who received the standard letter (9 percent).
