Quitting Smoking is Hard. FDA Wants Nicotine-Replacement Therapies

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a new Nicotine Steering Committee comprised of FDA officials will explore its handling of smoking-cessation products. Use of smoking-cessation products have been proven to increase quitting success, but the FDA has not updated its product recommendations in 20 years. The FDA will consider updating this list and in addressing labeling and indications, along with specifying what research studies are needed for safety and efficacy.
